I've never had any problems with XFX. When my 8600GT XXX took a shizzle, I did the complete RMA process and with in 2 weeks, I had a new card back. Sounds like your one of the few who lucked out on this deal. I'm sticking with XFX for my ATI cards cause when I rma I stuff back, I brown bagged it, anti static bag it, bubble wrap the card AND the inner lining of the box, and then paid extra for delicate shipping.

If this damage was shown to any manufacturer, they would deny you right away. Think about this for a second and take off your xfx hate goggles/bandwagon.

1. It got damaged during shipping.

2. An XFX employee accidentally damaged the card and didn't know.

3. An XFX employee knowingly damaged the card and is blaming you.

These capacitors are on solid. There's really no way for it to come off by just handling the card while installing or inspecting it. Most likely, the shipper dropped it somewhere.

I can't imagine a shipper dropping the packaged box and damaging just that capacitor. I don't know, I clearly haven't tried, but the box was brown paper bagged, wrapped in protective slip, bubble wrapped, and antistatic nuts up to the box. I think it's hard to think that it happened during the transit, and if it did, the capacitor might have been loosely attached at the first place (as others suggested), which would explain everything.

But there are lots of "xfx horror stories" out there with even more details than mine, and, they might not be all true. But they can't be all lies. I know mine isn't.

According to XFX's shipping guide, you are not supposed to send it back in the retail packaging. It should be in an anti-static bag or paper bag, then packed securely in a box (not bag) and sent back.

I know this because I have one card at XFX right now and one pending approval to send it in. I'd never had a single XFX card and then in the past month, I've had three... I hope it goes well.
