yep had a friend rma his GTX 280 to xfx they accepted his rma, but didn't have any compairable cards to send back since xfx lost their nvidia contract. hes hardcore nvidia fanboy and was very disapointed, they offered him a 4870 which is about a GTX 260, He knew that, and told them no. Then they send him an email with a chart of cards they did have, and told him he had to pay the difference for anything other then the 4870. He ended up with a 5850 for a trade in with his broken GTX280 + they made him pay $150. and at the time GTX280 was worth around $350 and a 5850 around $250... so a trade from a card thats $100 more cost him him $150? Poor service right their XFX. EVGA will give u the card u had or a better one for free, and they ussaly pay shipping if you talk to them, XFX made him pay shipping as well.

and what was the joke name for radio shack?

The freshman/charge version is probably the oldest Capacitor Joke, making use of the capacitor/charge pun...
A freshman goes into Radio Shack and asks for a capacitor.
"Will that be cash?" asks the clerk.
"Nah, charge it." says the freshman.

Wow that sucks. Next you'll have to take pictures of the card at UPS, just before packing, while holding up a newspaper with today's date... like a kidnapping for ransom.

All I can say in my GPU RMA experience is that EVGA Lifetime RMA has always been very hassle free.

If this thread gets popular enough, maybe the OP will get an expense-free trip to california, just like that other guy from the forums.

XFX is like 2 hours away... they'd need better to throw than a tour with expenses paid!

Not that I'm looking for any of that...

Should just tag along with UPS bros in the truck and see the card get delivered safely. Will keep EVGA in mind (I also read good things about Sap?)
