Another "Recommend me a cooler" thread

Thread Starter
Hello,
I kinda want to overclock my i5 750 a bit now, and since it's already on pretty high temps on stock clocks with the stock cooler, I'm gonna buy a new one.
I'm split between the Noctua DH-D14, the HYper 212+ or one of the Corsair closed loop watercooling ones.

Which one would be the best? And what's the performance difference between the H50, 60, 70 & 80?

Thanks in advance!
(My case is a Cooler Master Elite 335)

the h50 and h60 are about the same level. the h70 is overpriced, but the h80 is pretty good. if you really wanna get serious wait for the h100 to come out, or go for an xspc rasa 750.

as above, ^^ regarding the closed loop coolers,
the Thermalright Silver Arrow is the same performance as the nh-d14 but is cheaper.
i would go with
1. Thermalright Silver Arrow (just make sure, it clears your ram)
2. Noctua NH-D14 (same regarding the ram)
3. Prolimitech Super mega
4. H-80
or if you can afford it a proper custom water loop

regarding ram clearance, http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=c...s_id=34&lng=en
you would have to remove the heatsink from the ram.
if not then
Prolimitech super mega or H-80

Well, there's no real good computer store anywhere remotely close to where I live, and in the one I use, I couldn't find the Thermaltake SIlver Arrow or the Prolimitech SUper mega.

Each of these sites I get things through often:

Prolimatech Super Mega Directron.com $65

Thermalright Silver Arrow Directron.com $75

Noctua NH-D14 Directron.com $70

Prolimatech Megahalems svc.com $60

Thermalright Silver Arrow svc.com $80

Noctua NH-D14 svc.com $75

Directron.com also has a Summer Sale going on with a bunch of different heatsinks.

Well, none of those ship to FInland.
The NH-D14 looks good to me right now, what's the temp differences between that and the 212+?

EDIT: Well, svc does ship, but with a 50 USD shipping fee.

Wow didn't know you were in Finland. That would of helped from the begining! lol. Check to see if scan.co.uk ships there?

Nope, only UK.
And for what it's worth, I mostly use Multitronic.fi
It's not great, but they've improved.

Thermalright Silver Arrow. $70

Shipping world wide: http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/thsiarforam.html

I have one on my 1090t running at 4.11 Ghz and 100% cpu 24/7 because it's my folding rig.

I highly recommend it, and sidewinder is great to deal with as well.

Hmm, 40 USD shipping, but 110 dollars for that in total is still cheaper than the 91 euro for the NH-D14 on the site I usually use.
Is that website trustworthy? And how is the SIlver Arrow in relation to the H80, NH-D14 and the 212+?
