100% on idle

Thread Starter
So everytime I try to install win 7 64bit, its superrrr slow.
I get to desktop and everythings super laggy, so i check the task manager and its up at 80-100% cpu usage, but none of the processes say they are using cpu.

all this on sig rig, not sure whats going on here.

Are you using a legit copy of Win7? If not, download a different one, yours might have a couple virii tagging along on it.

Before you do that, boot to a live CD of linux and check your CPU usage from there to make sure it's not a hardware problem.

I did do a little googling, and I saw other people having the same issue with a mobo with nvidia chipset and 4gb ram +

I may try and restart but take out a stick of ram.

weird, when I take 1 stick of ram out, so I only have 3gb.
everything runs fine...
what av are you using?
Thread Starter
nothing, this is a fresh install.
all updates applied.

booted with 3gb, runs fine.
booted with 4gb, I get the lag, where the cpu usage goes crazy lol.

It's because of the nvidia chipset. Another fault of theirs (ducks and covers).

this kinda sucks lol.

Think I may have found the solution.

enabled memory remap feature in bios and seems to have cured the lag issue.
