CPU Cooler - Questions about the Fans

Thread Starter
Hey everybody,
I have a couple of questions regarding the Fans that are used on CPU Heatsyncs, since I am soon getting the Cooler Master Hyper 212 plus...
1. My motherboard only has 1 CPU_FAN connector, and I was wondering where the second fan would get plugged into, if I were to go for a Push/Pull configuration?
2. I have 2 120mm normal case fans (identical ones) and even though I know that the Hyper 212 plus comes with one fan, I was told that having two Identical fans is better.
2a. What should I check for to see if these fans are good enough for that Heatsync?
2b. Since the CPU_FAN connector on my mobo is a 4-pin connector, but my regular 120mm fans are 3-pin, can/should I even plug them into the CPU_FAN connector on my mobo?
That was it for now. If I think of another question or I forgot one, I will post it in this thread.
I hope to be seeing some replies soon and thank you all in advance ,
Marius

You can freely connect 3-pin to 4-pin plug, no problem with that.
Here's a good thread with discussion on how to attach more fans than you have connectors for:

what are your other 2 fans? they probably won't be as good as the blademaster that the cm212+ comes with because it has good static pressure, your best bet would either to get another one or just leave it in push configuration.

The thing is: If I use my case fans, I could just as well put them in my normal 3-pin connectors on the mobo, and I have enough of those. Do you know the answers to my other questions?
One more question btw: if I put a 3pin fan into the 4pin CPU_FAN connector on the mobo, will it still alert me if my fan is not rotating (there can always be an issue)?
And what is the 4th pin on the CPU_FAN connector for anyway?
Thanks
Marius

I believe them to be the Cooler Master SickleFlow 120mm Red LED with 2000rpm. Not 100% sure though... 99% should be enough though haha

I have a question :/
So is the 1 already included fan better to use with the Hyper 212+ OR the 2 120mm Cooler Master SickleFlow 120mm Red LED with 2000RPM OR 1 of the Red LED and the other already included one?
(To sum things up in case someone didn't get that :/ )
I have a Hyper 212 Plus CPU Heatsync.
I don't know which fans to use for it, but I have the one that is included with the Hyper 212 Plus (Cooler Master Blademaster, I believe), and I also have 2 Cooler Master SickleFlow Red LED [2000RPM] Fans.
Here are the 3 options, of which I'd like to know which is the best (best performance)
1) Use the included Blademaster Fan but nothing else (only 1 fan)
2) Use the 2 SickleFlow Fans in Push/Pull Configuration
3) Use 1 Blademaster and 1 SickleFlow in Push/Pull Configuration
[IF it is 3, then please tell me which would be better: Having the SickleFlow pull air in and the Blademaster push it out OR having the Blademaster pull it in and the SickleFlow push it out]
Alright thanks in advance I hope someone can help

You are using an As.s mb. You can't vary the speed of non-PWM fans. Most case fans are not PWM.

In any . . . case (heh heh) the BM that comes with your 212+ is PWM, and it's a good fan. See item 1 in my sig to see how well it compares to other fans.

Get your 212+. Use it with its stock fan. If later you decide you need to upgrade, don't bother with a new fan. Get a Silver Arrow of a D14. Anything less will simply be an expensive stepping stone on your journey to a more powerful cooler.
