The core voltage changes fine but the other two do not. As long as my temps stay down is it safe to keep increasing my voltage? I only have it up to 1165 mV atm.
FYI, I am forcing constant voltage and have my Graphics processor type set to 1150 mV (not sure what this is)
Can't say .. what you've done is right so far.. right down to the 1150mV option.
Try to enable voltage changes and the unofficial EULA for the MSI AB. Try to follow my 1st post on AB-- the ELUA's threre.. also get on the latest beta.. has better support for the 69xx cards.. inclung powertune! Do post back.Try to read the current VDDC from some other software.. maybe GPU-z??
And make sure that your profile is not autoswitching .. ( last page under AB settings) .

I followed this guide http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/overclocking/vidcard/159 from w1zzard. If i do that my computer won't boot and i've to use the switch I said before. I hope you can help me out!
Thanks in advance!
Well, I DID mention that W1zzard's mod may NOT work for most BIOSes pertaining to the 6950s. It's right up there in my 1st post..
If the MSI BIOS didn't work for you, one of two happened:
1. Your shaders are BAD ( IF they were laser cut then the card would still boot)
2. You have a new revision ( in which case you're flat out of luck, it being a custom PCB )
Try to go back to factory settings / clocks/ BIOS and then take it from there ( OC ? ) . You'll probably end up with equally tangible benefits as the card surely clocks better before unlocking.

FWIW I had no issues getting core voltage adjustment working here, just got card on Thursday, installed drivers + latest AB beta and it worked fine.
If anyone's resolved this I'd love to know how. Do we need to enable unnoficial OCing in AB to get memory/auxiliary voltage adjustment?
Great thread btw thanks to all who've shared info here.
edit: all voltage controls work after some more fiddling. I derped and didn't realize you could only go in 10mv steps on the memory and aux voltages.
Good 4 u .
I'm sticking to + 10mV for the aux and +20 on the VMem ( 10 in the summers) cause this integrated metal plate is freakish. It's spreading the VRM heat to the mem modules so I'm simply playing it safe.

Hey guys! I got my 6950 Twin Frozr III today and I love it. Right now the highest overclock i've gotten is 970/1400 at 1.26v. Also I unlocked it to 1536 shaders!

Well the problem with my Vaux and Vmem not staying was the fact I wasn't using 10mV increments, so that issue is solved. I did follow your first post with editing the .cfg file with the unofficial EULA so that is done, I don't have the very latest beta right now but the previous version and looking at the change log it looks like they only add support for 79xx cards so I don't think this should make a big difference, but I will get the latest when I have a chance this weekend. Should I do anything for powertune? I didn't see you mention this in your original post so I'm not sure what the effect would be. Will use GPU-z later to read my VDDC, what am I looking for here?

I'm thinking about raising my voltage some to see if that helps out, still the only game I have issues with is team fortress 2....If I'm having issues with my GPU being stable would it just crash the game or would it crash my whole system? Right now it locks up for around a minute then I can use alt-tab to switch out of the game and close it from the taskbar?? (I'm just wondering if its something else causing the game to crash and not my GPU, maybe on board sound?)

Thanks again!

That stinks of instability !! That's your driver crashing and windows recovering from it ... You're lucky the entire system is not crashing ... windows 7 was designed to recover from such driver instabilities.

Well, only 10mV changes stick, nothing in between ! That seemed pretty obvious tongue.gif

The latest (12 I think) Beta adds support for powertune adjustments for 69xx cards right in AB (under the 1st page : settings) . OC'ing in AB and powertune under CCC has always been a problem as one would conflict with one another. This is in place to prevent massive heat-ups ( read :OCCT) and to generally keep the power usage of cards withing limits ... 200W +-20% is about 160-240W ... So if you're OC'ing and unlocking , u'll need to go the extra 20% or you'll see your card throttle under heavy workloads.

Keep in mind that even though a card may be OCCT stable / 3dmark , the works !! But that doesn't ensure game stability . Some games won't tolerate a single MHz above stock!! I know C1 to be finicky for the most..Maybe TF2's the same . Haven't needed to OC for that game , ever. try running a hotkey for you're OC profile switching instead of automatic 2D/3D profile switching.

hi guys... i guess i broke my card frown.gif i cannot open ccc and other program that push up frequency on max value. i also format all system 'cause i though that was a conflict with last beta driver (12.3rc) but after re-install win7 and whql official drivers, driver restart to crash lot of time. i reflash also original bios but problem persist. someone can help me if is possible to understand if card is really freeze or not? thank you all

Did you update this after fresh Windows re-install?

The AMD Catalyst Control Center / AMD Vision Engine Control Center requires that the Microsoft .NET Framework SP1 be installed for Windows XP and Windows Vista. Without .NET SP1 installed, the AMD Catalyst Control Center / AMD Vision Engine Control Center will not launch properly and the user will see an error message.

If you have to install 12.3RC, you have to turn off UAC.
Control Panel > User Accounts > change User Account Control Settings > Set to minimum > restart PC.

i will try and let you know... but i guess is hardware issue. this happen when i open CCC, games or some bechmark (furmark) and driver crash and crash without restore it properly. hard reboot is needed.

nothing dude. i did as you said for both drivers. still crashing also when i do windows system test. i guess it is damage! mad.gif maybe lot vcore or vmem, maybe lot of overclock. all the time i was on 1.3v 970mhz/1460mhz with temp arounf 71c°. now is starting to crash! if you have some idea... let me know also if i know the end.mad.gif

RMA it .. seems like something's wrong with the card. If ever a working card refuses to work at the same clocks/volts as previously stable ... it's obv.a hardware problem. If this has arisen out of misuse /neglect, only the user can discern, but RMA it anyway. Lets see what MSI has to say about it .

Not to a n00b like me =P

I raised my voltaged to 1.19 mV and I have had the crashing issue since, I only raised my powertune level to 5% though, should I bump this all the way up to 20%? and should I leave it there all the time or only when I'm overclocking?

Thanks again for all the help! =D
