Dead pc what next?

So while trying to push my over clock higher I ended up killing my pc, not sure what exactly is dead. I pulled the CPU out and it's got burn marks on it but it did last time I reseated and it was still running fine. Now the motherboard LCD isn't coming on and it won't post. I have it narrowed down to either the CPU, motherboard, or power supply. I figured the best thing to do would be to buy a new one of each and return whatever I didn't end up needing. Looking at newegg It would cost about 722 or so for all three. Unfortunately I would have to keep the CPU whether or not I needed it since their return policy is replacement only. So I could just buy a mobo and pus and return what ever I didn't need for about 400$ but for another 400$ or so I could just upgrade to a 2600k...

So my question is what would you do? Buy the power supply and motherboard and return what you don't need? If I end up needing to replace the CPU it will be another shipping wait as well as being about 100$ less then just getting an upgrade basically. I'm leaning towards the 2600k but was waiting for lga2011 I don't need the enthusiast socket I guess and if I went with the 1155 I would be able to use my water block which would be nice with the drop in IB down the road it's a simple upgrade, but I'm torn.

Thanks for any replies

My 930 just died two weeks ago due to high temps too. I decided it was not worth going through all the hassle and I wanted to upgrade to a 2500k anyways, so i did it and i couldnt be happier. It overclocks so much better, faster and easier and my temps are MUCH lower. Im @4ghz with a vcore of 1.15 and trying to go lower as we speak.

I would say that if you can afford it, go for it! best upgrade ever.

Also, in Microcenter they had this offer where the 2500k was like $70 cheaper if you got it with a motherboard.

I'm not sure if it was temps that killed it, I was only reaching upper 50's fully loaded at 4ghz but something definitely went wrong somewhere. Oh well, I think im going to go with the 2600k. The CPU block is nice to reuse, and I can always get lga2011 down the road it may just not be right away
