Athlon 2 X3 450 Questions

Thread Starter
Hi guys, im fresh new member of Overclock.net.
I have a few questions to start.
Bought new rig tommorow - MSi Gtx 460 OC 1 Gb, Athlon 2 X3 450, ASRock M3A UCC, 4 GB Kingmax 1066 MHz.
It is in my new apartment, which I cant go to till thursday.
The thing is, I went to Bios, turned on UCC and booted. IN bios it showed as Phenom 2 X4 B50. Now, I'm glad I even could boot the computer. But I wanna know is there any chance that I could have Deneb core instead of Propus.
And what are good stress programs. Prime95, OCCT, Intel Burn? Cheers.

Download CPU-Z, and there it shows you if it's Deneb or Propus core. It's under "Code name"

I also unlocked the same CPU and also got Phenom 2 X4 B50
I got it to 3.5 @ 1.408V and it runs great. For stress testing my personal favourite is Prime95, but you could try others, maybe several to be 100% sure it's stable

Gratz on successfully unlocking the CPU!

EDIT: Mine is Propus core btw

I'm surprised an Athlon turns into a Phenom, but if it's stable, IBT would be best at stressing the CPU. For all around test, blend in Prime95.

I don't know if AMD still makes them but they are widely available.

Yeah, booted and rebooted 3-4 times just for the heck hehe. Couldn't believe. I've question tho, why do you find it surprising? Cause they most turn in x4 propus rite?

I've personally don't know if the core changes, but it is possible.

The reason why I was surprised was because Athlon are considered lower-end by AMD and are usually cheaper. I tried to unlock my Athlon II X3 425 and it turned into a massive unstable thing, but it kept the same name/core name but the 4th core was there.

Btw, set your rig in the User CP > Add System.

If you don't mind, overclock that thing and see, I might give my 425 another try to beat my Phenom XD
