That's a 960T unlocked?

I am really gonna have to try one of these next. I've got the mobo and PSU to power it.

Hmmm i think mine is not so good. Unlocked but needs much higher Vcore to achive 4 Ghz. Below 1.5 it crashes after few seconds in windows.

New member and first post on overclock.com. Ok, had been looking for a CPU upgrade forever for my AM3 board and pulled the trigger on the 960t two weeks ago after being on the fence for an 1100t, 980, 975, or 970. Had not been able to decide, but the price on the 960t was too much to pass up for trying it out. Coming from 740BE, and before that a socket 939 FX-60.

Build:

Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5 [AM3], bios F6
4g Gskill ripjaws [red ones] at 1333 9-9-9-24 [note, not bumping to 1600, even though it works. all benchmarks at 1333]
Coolermaster Hyper 212
Diamond ATI 5870 1g
Velociraptor 300g
Thermaltake blackwidow 850w

Core unlocking:I could not unlock 6 cores, despite trying varying voltages. was able to unlock 5 however. Had to disable core #5 in the bios, but got it to work. Stable on 5, and able to see the CPU boost in benchmarks.

5 Core benchmarks at 4.0g, 1.4v and just raising the multiplier to x20:
3dmark06: 21804
3dmark11: 4258
Performance test: 2044.7 with 6607 cpu score
Cinebench11: OGL 64.04, CPU 5.83
Cinebench10: 8326/4587/19531
*I played about 4 hours of BF3 at this setting with no problem. It's not prime95, but I wanted to play vs. watching prime. No hiccups. Played at highres with some settings [textures] cranked to ultra, and AA at 4x. Wish I had saved temps, but this chip does not get hot.

4 core benchmarks at 4g, 1.4v
3dmark06: 21051
3dmark11: 4253
Performance test: 1952, 5377 cpu mark
I run it at 4g with a much lower voltage, but only wrote down these results.

So, this chip is a fantastic overclocker with only bumping the multiplier and not messing with the voltage. I have it running for 24/7 use at 3.6 with the stock voltage, which reads 1.216 on CPUz. Caviat- no prime95 tests to show you, but it's great with the games.

Chip runs cold too. Idle been 14-15c, and from the pic I posted, max went to 35c after 20 minutes of prime95. On that screenshot, did not bump the voltage to 1.4, I think I only upped the CPU voltage 1v.

So, just posting, because I have no buddies I can talk to this stuff about, but am very stoked with FPS gaming on this, price was rad, and it's jammin on these new games.

Thanks all for any input.

Sorry, I did not give a reference point on how well the oc improved performance.

The previously posted benches were with cool n' quite disabled, as well as the turbocore disabled.

The stock benchmarks I noted were as follows with turbocore enabled:
3.0g with 3.4 turbocore

3d06: 17445/6659/9035/4287
3d11: 4089/4127/4065/5859
CinebenchR10: 6811/3713/12630
Ciner11: 54.23/3.56
