Will these parts work for me

Thread Starter
Thinking about going water since i dont have a aftermarket cooler yet, currently looking at these parts:
Pump: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=28887 or http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=28303
rad: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...e3e50624c22602
Block: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...04a81b8bbde8e3
Res: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...105dde25e1fa9c
Fittings: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=30115
Tubing: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=23610
Coolant: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=23285

I will probably want to cool my GPU maybe 2 later on. would it be possible to do it with either of those pumps and adding a 120 RAD?

That's not a bad "budget build". The 240 rad will cool the 2500 and a single gpu, but you may have slightly elevated temperatures. You will get some flack for using that coolant, and I will say you should go Distilled at least for the first couple fills. Get used to the build as to not waste the coolant. That said, I'm using the Acid Green as well without issues (so far).

I've got multiple suggestions for you.

Pump: Swiftech MCP355
Radiator: AT LEAST an XSPC RX240, if not an XSPC RX360
Block: XSPC Rasa
Res: XSPC top for the MCP355, or XSPC Dual Bay Res for MCP355
Coolant: Straight distilled water, but you'd need to buy a Silver KillCoil.
Fans: Gentle Typhoon's, Yate Loon's, Cooler Master R4's

Reasoning:

RS240 is just good enough to cool the i5 2500K on it's own. Throwing a GPU block into the mix will make it way too hot. From personal experience, I get around 60-62C @ 4.6 GHz on my i5 2500K.

MCP355 is one of the stronger pumps out there, MCP655 is nice, but many people swear by the MCP355 because it is slightly more powerful at lower head pressures and doesn't dump as much heat back into the loop.

XSPC Rasa waterblock because it's one of the best waterblocks on the market, period. Plus, if you get a bad block from EK, they WILL NOT replace it. There are tons of reports of EK refusing to replace parts, blaming everything on the customer. I've got at least 5 different threads bookmarked on that alone, on top of another 5 threads showing how poor their quality control is, though all of my bookmarked threads on them show how poor the quality can be.

XSPC Top to make the MCP355 have 1/2" ID barbs, or the XSPC dual bay res to make it easier to fill the loop/bleed the loop/drain the loop since you'll have overall less connections and tubing uses, and know you'll have plenty of coolant.

Distilled water because coolants like feser one can and probably will eventually degrade and split apart from the water, gunking up your waterblocks and pump. Most people here will tell you DO NOT go near coolant. You won't even be able to see the coolant with colored tubing anyway, so you'll be saving money, time (to clean everything out if it gets gunked up), and you can just run down to your local convenient store for distilled water if you ever need more.

You'll need a Silver KillCoil to make sure bacteria and algae do not grow in the loop though.

Fans are something you may not have considered, but they're just as important as all the other parts. Good fans will provide good results, and Gentle Typhoon's are the cream of the crop.
