800d top rad intake or outtake?

Thread Starter
Hi guys,

I am going to be redoing my loop very soon and was just wondering if i should have my top rad as intake or outtake?

I know that hot air rises and stuff but the air inside the case is very hot aswel because of only one intake fan.the back of my case has a 120 rad there aswel and that is an outtake, top rad is also outtake atm.

intake or outtake?

thanks guys!

Well I just redid my radiator yesterday, I setup mine as intake in the top and it dropped my temps a ton. I dropped from 55c max load to like 48c max load. I am very happy with the results. I did that because my video card exhaust heat into the case, so it was effecting my CPU temps along with all the other heat of the system going through the rad.

When I ran mine I had the top and bottom as intake and the back as an exhaust. Or you could put a fan on the window and make the top exhaust. Whatever works best for you. Check out my thread history and you can see what I did with my 800d.

It wont matter. However you feel is cleanest looking/easier to install. I dare anyone to measure a difference between it blowing out, or pulling air in, in any of our well vented rigs...

It will matter. If you haven't modded any fans either on the window or the front of the case, run the top radiator fans as intake. I don't have a radiator on the back like you, but if you're only cooling your CPU, I'd take that rad out and just use it as an exhaust. I saw a good few degrees celcius drop going intake on my top and bottom radiators from my previous setup of exhaust ( with a modded front intake fan for the bottom rad, and using the rear as intake as well.

Although it'd be a pain, try it out, and if you don't see any positive results, then go back smile.gif I feel that is the best way to tell, although the most time consuming.
