Question for people who own multiple mechanical keyboards

Thread Starter
Does it mess with your typing proficiency?

Switching between MX black and MX brown switches (different ends of the spectrum) seems to be quite a change.

Is it better to stick with one type of switch?

It all depends on personal preference. I know a lot of folks who like to switch around.

Going from a very heavy switch to a very light switch will of course be a big change but if you like both keyboards, it will likely be a nice change

Everyone needs a little "change of pace" once in a while.

I don't notice much at all. The difference between mechanical boards (specifically Cherry switches like you mention) is not as drastic as going from a cheap rubber dome board to a mechanical. Between Blues and Browns, you won't really notice a difference when you're typing away. I use my Ducky with Browns at home and my Filco with Blues at work.

It takes some getting used to; I use MX browns at home and MX blacks at work. If I stay away from work for too long, it takes a while to regain speed.

Ooh, and that's a dwarf rabbit as your avatar!

I combo up MX black and white ALPS and I have no complaints. They are both fairly heavy switches though. I use the G80 with browns sometimes and I don't notice any huge differences even coming from such heavy switches.

i actually like switching up between my brown filco and blue kbc poker just to mix it up.

Definetly would to try some blacks/reds to see if I feel the same way after trying them.

I own an MX Black keyboard at work and a MX Blue keyboard at home. When I first started using a second keyboard, I would have trouble adjusting between home and work but after a while, you sort of get use to it. I'd say my typing speed needs a little warm up still but it's not that big of a problem. It's actually pretty nice to get a break from a switch sometimes.

How does typing on the Topre compared to the BWU, a lot better?

By the way is difference between blues and browns, just the sound? Are they the same in terms of typing weight and pressure?
