You make a valid point , I may have to re-think my strategy on this one

Maybe Star Wars tech is already so advanced, they practically hit a wall, and that's why we don't see revolutionary changes. Things can't improve indefinitely.
Modern cars are almost identical to cars from the '50s, the engineering principles are the same, the engines are basically the same, about all that's advanced is the engine and fuel management.

But if you run with your '50s car and say it has evolved, well that's only 60 years, times that by 16.6 and i'd expect vehicles to be somewhat different, even in prehistory carts and chariots evolved.

(also, not all societies advance technologically. Dark Ages? You seem to acknowledge this, but then say that because there are computers it can't happen again. There was a lot o' war going on in that galaxy far, far away)
I'm not saying because of computers a society can't stagnate technologically, i'm saying it's unlikely.

As for the dark ages, yes there was some stagnation, but the term is more to do with society than technology. Even then, throughout the middle/dark ages there were advancements in warfare, necessity is the mother of invention after all, and in a world of chaos you advance militarily, isn't it a bit strange how in Star Wars worlds they use the same light sabers and blasters after 1000 years? It was the end of order as Europe had known it, infrastructures fell apart, but it's far too simplistic to say Europe stagnated to the extent that everything still the looked same 1000 years later, because it didn't. Which leads to the point that Europe, where the dark ages took place, is only one continent on this Earth, it didn't affect the rest of the world. So why should a galaxy worth planets all stagnate? Unlikey...
