Best Soundcard for PC 360

Thread Starter
I just ordered a Sennheiser PC 360 to game with my XBOX/PC. I currently have the Astro A40 2011 Wireless system but imho the Astro A40 headset has terrible mid and treble but incredible bass. What I'd like to know is if I should get a new Sound card for the PC 360. I currently have a On-board soundcard that comes with the Asus Rampage GENE II which afaik has an X-FI chip in it, least that's what the website says. I'll be using the PC360 with the wireless MIXAMP for both PC and XBOX gaming.

Well I've just been checking around so far it seems this would be a good one: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD I haven't read any reviews yet but basically I'd need optical out to put into the astro mixamp

However do you think I'd need to upgrade my card considering I'd be using the optical out which the on-board already has? That would be plugged into the astro mixamp so that it can give me the simulated 5.1/7.1 surround.

http://www.astrogaming.com/mixamp/mixamp-5-8

Also isn't creatives driver support terrible? I had an Audigy 2ZS a while ago and they stopped making drivers pretty quick as well as a Zen Vision M which stopped after like 6months.

Does this card had Dolby Live or something along those lines? So that it will output a 5.1+ signal to my astro mixamp for pretty much everything ?

How's the XONAR ASUS STX compare?

I use asus DG with my PC360.
Just plain stereo, no fx, no Dolby, no nothing.
Listen my 8 direction sound cue very clear, playing blk ops, arma2, bc2.
I'm already very satisfied biggrin.gif
Might be I should need a better sound card too redface.gif

I just ordered the Titanium HD I really hope it's as good as people say. Also I have a set of normal stereo speakers. I'm assuming those would plug in no problem?

I see something about replacing stuff on the card. Is this necessary? Do you need a lot of tools to get this done? What are the benefits of this 'mod'?

I bought a Creative Labs Soundblaster X-FI Titanium and sent it back because I could only tell minimal difference certainly not 149 dollars worth. I am an audiophile and I am very picky about sound and picture. If you asked a regular consumer they wouldn't be able to tell a difference. I have been using onboard and I am very satisfied. But if you must have best of the best then I would suggest the X-FI Titanium as many have suggested above.
