Low ram benchmark

Thread Starter
Hi everyone, I need some help with some slow ram I have
Just upgraded from 4gb to 8gb hyperx 1600MHz ddr3 ram (2x4gb)

I did some recommended settings from another forum.

A couple questions though:
1) I changed CPU frequency to 200Mhz but saw another setting "HT Bus Speed" set to auto. Is that right?
2) CPU voltage changed from auto to 1.275 after I selected Manual CPU frequency mode.
3) Any reason to leave the x17 @200Mhz vs the original setting?

Did a benchmark with new settings: a tiny bit slower.

I would just like to know how to increase the speed so my benchmarks are not so low....not that I care about benchmarks, but I want more real usable performance.

Give us more detail, mate What are is the stock multi of your CPU?
HT @Auto is correct, that'll keep it @2000Mhz with ref clock 200. If you ever raise the ref clock, make sure you drop the HT multi.
Your RAM should easily do CL8 timings, try that, should boost performance considerably
That CPU voltage is way too low. You need at least 1.35v @load @those clocks! It could be the reason for low performance. If you don't have heat issues, raise the voltage a bit.

Or drop your multi and overclock the fsb to the same frequency and cpu-nb high as you can get.
lower latencies on the connected peripherals including the on-die memory and ram should help achieve much better results.
oddly enough i done a few maxxmem runs this morning with ddr2 800 and a mild fs/cpu-nb OC and im seeing better results,it may also be the timings you have on your ram,can you knock them down a bit?

I posted my CPU-z. I thought it provides all the details you need.

Thanks everyone, I will try your suggestions.
So the HT and the NB speed are 2 different things?
Also, my ram settings are the max SPD settings for my ram.

My cpu runs at 1.30 V...why would I raise it if it runs at the speed I need it?

off to my BIOS I go to raise NB.

OK OK OK...
I raised cpu V to 1.3v but still runs at same 3.4GHz. Any point to this or should I revert until I decide to overclock more?

How much higher on the NB can I go?

My benchmark did improve by 10%!!! but still way under ddr2 systems.

Because the low RAM result you're getting might be due to starving CPU.
SPD is not to be followed strictly.
Max SPD for my RAM is 685 CL9, yet I'm running it perfectly stable 833 CL8.
HT and NB are two different things, yes.

Thanks, I thought at least I would get some extra speed with that .3 bump in voltage but I didnt.

Im going to raise NB to 2600 now and see what happens. You guys are all great.

edit: raised NB to 2600mhz, got just a little faster. (still below average)

Now my question is, shall I raise my Bus speed back up to over 200Mhz?
