RASA KIT is alittle hot

Thread Starter
Ok so i put my new rasa 7500 rs240 kit together and it seems to be running hot on my system. The loop is completely bleed! and im running distilled water with a kill coil in it. I have my chip at 4.6ghz at 1.4volts and its getting up to 70c under prime! My 240 rad has 4 meh fans on it in push pull in the bottom of my case. It isnt getting the Best of fresh air but it is getting some.! What do you guys think of my high temps!??

EDIT: Also my ambient is prob in the low to mid 70f 's? id say dont know exact!

Maybe your block isn't seated properly? What fans are you using? Ambient temps?

Try reseating the block and make sure it's on there nice and tight. If that doesn't improve the situation, maybe you went overkill with the thermal compound (fairly common cause for unreasonably high temps). Also see if the either the block or the CPU are noticeably curved.

70c at 4.6ghz is great temp. Keep in mind, even though it is 32nm the 2600k gets really hot at the higher clock speeds/voltages.

But 70c coretemp with 70-75f ambient is excellent.
If your fans on your radiator arent set to intake you might try that. Intake fans on radiator are always better then exhaust.

Lets say your ambient is 75f. Lets convert that to celcius. (75-32)/1.8=23.88c

Now lets take your load temps and subtract your ambient temp from it.

70c-23.88=46c above ambient. Thats what is to be expected. 46c above ambient is about what I got with rasa kit ony a Lynnfield clocked at 4.1 ghz. And Lynnfields run crazy hot at 4ghz and above.

You didnt do anything wrong, your temps are fine. You could always get more powerful fans if you want to shed a few more degrees.

If you want to compare your temps with popular air cooler with diff fan configs, search ocn for "the well dressed megahalems" It will show you 65 fan configurations of the megahalems and how they perform in degress c above ambient.

A megahalem with a single gt ap-15 will keep cpu load temps at about 54.5c above ambient. (this was tested on an i7 875k which runs hotter then 2600k)

Its not excellent, I get 65C with the same ambient temp, i7 2600K 4.7GHz@1.4V and I only have two 2000RPM fans running as exhaust.

Also the same kit used to give me only 40C over ambient on my old i7 920 4.1GHz@1.3V (fans ran as intake).
