Hey,

May be in the wrong section, please let me know if it is.

Im planing build a whole new PC, my current is in my sig rig.

Ive been playing the witcher 2, buts its been performing horrible on my system, even with everything switched off.

Since im abit strapped for cash, would i see much of an improvement if i added an i5 2500k and a new mobo to my system for now, then the rest as i can afford them?

Cheers guys

I'm on a locked down work computer atm, so I can't post the links to the source websites - I'll try to remember to do that when i get home.

Based on the recommended equipment for the game (quad core/ HD 4850), it looks like an upgraded board and i5-2500k would be a good way to get at least some performance in the game. Just remember to factor in probably having to upgrade RAM to DDR3. Additionally, getting these base components means upgrades can be added on as the cash comes in, instead of possibly tying components to a motherboard you want to upgrade out of anyway.

However, if you want to simply upgrade one piece for $100-$200, a new video card could boost performance in this particular game. The arguments raging back an forth on a steamforum seemed to hold tight to The Witcher 2 performance being heavily tied to GPU.

Can you say how much you have to work with?

For a single 1080p display for TW2, you'd need a mid to high-end quad core, and at least a mid-range card or sli setup.

This is just a basic summation.
