is there any real advantage in overclock a 2600k - Page 3

I overclocked my 2600K from the stock 3.4 to a stable and easy 4.2 and even though temps are a little worrisome (because I desire temps below 60C while under full load, not the mid to low 60s I'm getting) games run faster (specifically Civilization V, where my FPS stays at 60 even when I zoom out completely, where as it would drop to 50 @3.4GHz) and my application open faster. This is all with my crappy 250GB hard drive from an old HP desktop. I should have my Spinpoint F3 setup when I get home from work today. ^_^

Its worth it, I bet your SLI 480's will get a big boost in gaming from overclocking the CPU and you WILL notice the difference in gaming and every day tasks. I try to get the most out of my money, so that means I'll take the 30% performance boost anyday
