high temps on 2500k..?

Hi

I have just built a PC for my dad for his FSX (Flight Sim), we wanted to overclock to 4.4Ghz but we seem to be getting high temps

we used a Gellid Tranquillo and my 3 year old Arctic5 Thermal Paste thats been kept in fridge as per instructions..

i have re-sit the HSF once already.

it idles at 39'c (this is the highest temp for one core on real temp - in tray it says 32'c which is the lowest temp)

under load on Prime95 at 4.4Ghz (1.056v on Auto) it maxes out at 69'c (highest temp on one core)
MAX TEMPS
62 - 69 - 67 - 63

AVG TEMPS
61 - 68 - 65 - 61

this is with a small 80mm case fan on back @ 3200 rpm - without increases temp 2'c

ive been told that these temps are acceptable but on the high side for a Gellid cooler... reviews show it Idle at 19'c and mines double that (idle is 1.6Ghz @ 1.044v Auto)

this is the setup
2500k @ 4.4Ghz (1.056v on Auto)
Gigabyte P67A-D3-B3
4Gb Corsair XMS3 1600mhz
MSI N460GTX OC
XFX 550w EasyRail

I want a second opinion, im not happy that everyone else is getting 10-20'c cooler than me, one person says he got 55'c max on 4Ghz with same cooler yet my 4Ghz temps are almost same as 4.4Ghz temps (70'c max on one core) - there is a differnce of 9'c from coolest and hottest cores...

whats others thoughts?

should I re-sit it and use the Gellid Paste?

thanks

How do you want to idle it at 19c? Thats below most of peoples ambient...

I'm on liquid and the lowest my CPU typically hits is 22C lol. You cannot go below your ambient on air cooling, so unless you're at 4-5C ambient you won't hit 10C idle on the cores. Not to mention idle temperatures are almost always wrong because the farther away you get from the tjmax the less accurate the temps become.

You cant below ambient on water either.... unless you got a huge AC cooling your rad, but even then, the ambient of your room would drop aswell.

Oh my I have to keep the AS5 in the fridge? I did not know this thankyou very much.

On the other hand my ambient temps are roughly at about the 10 degree mark and I idle at 19 degrees (give or take 5 degrees). So really, expecting better idle temps is insane! Especially as my 2600k is not overclocked and uses a 212+ cooler.

Like 99% of cooler reviews, I guarentee that the '19c idle' was 19c DELTA at idle.

Your temps are fine, your idle temps are exactly the same as mine and I have a much much better cooler, and my loads temps are abit lower than yours.

ahh yes I recall seeing something about DELTA on the reviews... what is that then?

do you all think that those temperatures under load are fine for that setup and scenario?
add push/pull fans, cable management, maybe a few additional case fans, and check back. 69c at load isnt terrible, especially if you only have a 80mm fan...

push/pull? you mean front & back case fans yeah?

also , how is it everyone else has much higher voltages at 4.4Ghz..?? CPU-Z reports my core voltage to be 1.044 at 1.6Ghz and 1.056v at 4.4Ghz...but everyone else has 1.3 etc..
also, if you set manual voltage and idle is over volted does this damage the processor in anyway and waste energy also?

thanks for the help
