Blown highs are really unflattering for skin -- and it's impossible to recover in post, making skin tones a real pain in the butt to fix. It looks like she's staring at the sun, which is pretty off-putting. I would have shot that later/earlier in the day to get that noon-ish sun off her face, and used the built-in flash for that "starry eyes" effect.
Everything I've read is pretty split about 'scalping', even for portraits. But I will accept your advice and maybe post a less cropped version later to get opinions.

As for the skin... that was done partly in post-processing. I probably need to just got back over these edits and make some adjustments.
