Is there any plan from both AMD and Intel for 128bit processors like PS3?sniper.gif

Does the PS3 have a 128-bit CPU? I'm cereal. Look at the ratio between 32 and 64-bit programs out now, and we've had 64-bit processors for years.

Are you sure? I remember I read S-where that it processes 128Bit.

Yeah, I've read the wikipedia page too. Anyway, no real benefit for most of the everyday computing being done by end users.

128bit=useless....for now....till devs code/support it

majority of software takes advantage of 32bit
only now are programmers starting to migrate over to 64bit

just look everywhere.....most programs are x86, not x64
well expect for most enterprise grade stuff which are more expensive but are most of the time coded for both x86 and x64

edit: I'm probably wrong....as I'm memorizing from what i've read before
so please correct me if I am

The cache is 128Bit and it can address from 8-128Bit data types but the processor as a whole does not connect or function as a 128Bit processor.

It provides no performance gain over 64bit.

Is it possible to have an OS or something like a virtual machine witch can exclude the X86 or X64 programs with a 128Bit cpu using all of its benefits?

Yes! But there must be a 128bit CPU to program for it!
