I how do I miss my Core 2 Duo rig, I upgraded everything for that chip. Went from a Pentium D 820 to e4400, crappy 945 chipset to a Asus P5N-E motherboard and from a 8600GT to a 8800GTS. Good times
I just wish when they move on to new tech they did not stop updating the old stuff as chipsets and stuff still need new drivers and things I am having a problem with mine to tell the truth, I keep getting devise removed when I try to run any benchmarks, it has to do with the Graphic cards I am sure as I can't figure out why so if anyone wants to help I am all ears lol! I am running (3) GTX260's and it games fine just no benchies at all even kombuster none of the 3d ones and heaven 2.1 run

I really don't remember 775 being that hard to OC...

Had an E8400/Q9650 and both were easy as hell to push to 4GHz on my X48-DS4
Only problem I had was after I hit the FSB wall with the quad...oh if only I had a P45 then :/

Because it's the best 775 processors and people still want to upgrade without getting an entirely new computer. I personally will/would not get one unless it's used.

getting 500 fsb stable (500x8) on my Q9550 was the longest two days of my life but i felt so accomplished when i finally did it.

however, with SB, its really tough to stabilize anything 4.7 and higher so there is some challenge to SB overclocking

The 45nm chips achieved higher overclocks easier than a 65nm. Me e4400 maxed out at 3.5 with 1.5 volts but settled for 3.33 at 1.39 and a e8400 could easily hit 4.0 with safe volts. Motherboards played a big factor aswell though, my P5Q P45 was a breeze to overclock.

I hit 4.8 with 1.38 volts easily, though I only tested it with prime95 for 3 hours becuase of heat. The cores maxed out at 76 degrees, a little hot for me. So 4.4 @ 1.27 volts feels right for now. Thinking of getting three high flow fans in push-pull-push and see if it helps. If I can stay in the low 70 I will keep 4.8.
