Maximus IV extreme vs Maximus IV gene-z

Which one of this motherboards is better?I have money to buy booth of them so money is not a problem(but if I can save some of ti I would be happy),but I don't know is extreme worth of more money? Are them booth enough for 5+ ghz overclock?I am not planing on doing 3 way sli or something like that.I need mbo that can achive 5+ ghz, that performes good in games, that has usb 3 and sata 6.And it is also important to me that board has at least 6 connectors for fans.So are there any big diffrences between this two boards? If not I am going to buy gene and save some money.

this is the rest of pc

i5 2500k
corsair h60
gene z or extreme
500gb samsung hdd
4gb corsair vengeance
gigabyte gtx 560 ti soc
lg cd driver
xfx 650w psu
corsair 650d

gene costs 155€
extreme costs 299€

sorry for my bad english:rolleyes:

Do you know what does extreme has that gene doesn't except 4 pci-e x16 slots and it is atx?
well for starters, the gene is a micro atx format, and the extreme is extended atx, so the gene is much smaller. Other than that, the differences are the extreme has a second ethernet port, 2 more sata 6 connectors, and 6 more usb 3.0 connectors. they both should overclock the same, as they're pretty much the same boards, just on a different scale. the thing you should watch out for is the size, because I'm not sure if the corsair 650d can fit an eatx board.

More usb 3 controllers and sata6 controllers on extreme than on gene-z. But non native sata6 has terrible performance.

But if fan connectors is really important for you and you are not going to buy a fan controller then gene-z unfortunately only has 5 in total...

Cpu overclock will depend more on your cpu they perform bout the same for overclocking. Asus do not use standard eatx layout it fit in my old 600t fine for maximus iv extreme so no problem fitting it in a 650d as they have the same interior layout.

I just saw that gene-z and extreme has only 8 phases.Isn't that to small power design?
No, thats not a problem. The phases used on the maximus boards are of very high quality and can take a beating and still provide very clean power
