Keyboard size terminology -let's standardize this crap

Thread Starter
I think KBC had a really good idea with calling their smaller keyboards by 40% or 60%, as in 40% or 60% of the footprint of a larger keyboard. I think that having a general consensus on what different "types" of layouts are called. So here's a standardized scale.

100% (fullsize)

IBM Model M

80% (tenkeyless) (or compact full)

60% (compact tenkeyless)

Noppoo Choc Mini

Cherry "Ricercar" MX SPOS
spos_4_by_phaedrus2401-d2y2csx.jpg
(the layout is 60%; but the huge "forehead" makes the actual foot print more like 80%)

40% (mini, or HHKB)

KBC Poker 40%

120-150% (extra keys!)

Logitech G15

Cherry MX8000

IBM Terminal 122-key

This way, things are more fine grained than "tenkeyless" and "regular".

In theory a good idea....
I'd recommend: block of text (Click to show)

The Cherry "Ricercar" MX SPOS seems closer to the 80% tenkeyless than it does the 60%. It still has a full numpad

THIS will always be a Mini in my mind despite what the boxes say.

I have quite a range.

I'd include my latest keyboards but this would require me dragging out the ladder again. Next time I'll go on the garage roof.
