I've already got a 500W PSU, so there's no point upgrading to another one of them. I'll probably get the 600W one; just to be safe

I'm probably going to swap the EVGA card for the MSI, TwinFrozr II GTX 560Ti. It's cheaper and has a much better cooler, so I don't see much of a reason to buy the EVGA one.

Twin Frozr cards are cracking!

EDIT:

Will I need to reformat my computer and re install the OS after this; because of the new motherboard? If so I may as well upgrade to Windows 7.

Also, this is my first ever upgrade and so if anyone can link me to a good guide, that'll be very useful

Yes you will need to re install. Some will try to tell you you will be ok, but with a totally new chipset theres a good chance you will not be as stable as you would be with a clean install.

Before I order all this stuff, can anyone link me to a beginner's guide to upgrading computer parts. I'm sure I could work it out (and the ScanSure installation insurance is reassuring!) but I just want to make sure I'm not going to break anything.

He needs to upgrade to 4gb of ram before he gets a SSD. I would also recommend a 6870 over the 560.

But ya now is a perfect time to do a whole platform update, that system is pretty old and I wouldn't recommend buying DDR2 ram any more.

Wha...? Again with people not noticing I have 4gb of RAM already? I'm pretty sure it says 2 X 2GB in my rig
