Possible i5 near ending or PSU problem?

Ok so, i´ve been getting this for a while now. Sometimes i´m just randomly surfing the web or working on some stuff on the desktop, and suddenly all the windows begin to not responding, until my desktop is completly unresponsive, and then it crashes. In the mean time this happens, sometimes my g15 is still responsive and i can see in the performance app that the CPU is completly at 0% of use. I suspect a CPU life-ending or a PSU life-ending maybe? Well the PSU is 2 years old (NOX Apex 700w, never let me down, i´ve run a 5850 cfx configuration last year) and the i5 is one year and a half old (i´ve been running 4ghz 24/7 since last summer, now at 2.6ghz because i thought it was the oc). I´m kinda let down because i didn´t want to spend my savings on a new CPU and Mobo, because i´m collecting those up for a Xmas GPU upgrade. Well if it is from the PSU, then not so bad, but not so good, because i really wanted a good GPU for Xmas. Well, if someone would hit me up and try to understand which component it is, i would be much appreciated. Thanks!

If possible, can you test the set up, as is, with a different PSU?

If you have a multimeter handy you can test your power supply.

What about stuff like flash GPU hardware being enabled? That can cause pretty bad stability issues for many people. I had to turn it off or my browsers would just sit there, sort of white for a few minutes randomly.

Google it...it's easy to find there's a fair amount of info on it. Pretty easy to test also.

Sounds like HDD failure as well. Download Seatools, burn it to a CD, and boot into it. Its a program that will test your harddrive.
