I am planning on buying either a HD Camera or camcorder in a week or so and I had a question about optical zoom. I just tested out my dad's Sony HX5V which has 10x Optical zoom and the zooming is very fast (2 seconds) while not filming (idling). However, while I am filming, it literally takes like 7 seconds to go from 0-10x zoom. I want to make Youtube reviews and I am sure some people will just be bored sitting for that long just watching me zoom in.
Is this because this is a Camera and it really isn't meant for filming, or is it just slow in general? Will it zoom faster if I get an HD camcorder?
Edit: Here is what I am talking about. This is the exact same camera I just used. Take a look at 0:18
