I want to upgrade my aspire m1200. I plan on reusing the case, hdd, os, dvd drive. So really it's a new build

So far I am at $485 with tax and shipping, $408 without. Here's a list of what I have so far.

Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3$132.00

G.SKILL Ripjaws X 4GB $36.23

AMD Athlon II X2 250 $57.24

Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 Flex $134.64

Antec Basiq BP500U 500W $48.29

Is this build something to hold you over until Bulldozer? Noticed the AM3+ board in there. If not, could save a decent chunk of money on the motherboard and get a more capable CPU or even upgrade another part of the build.

If your building this to wait for Bulldozer then this would be a good build.
If not then go with a cheaper motherboard and get a quad core, an Athlon II or Phenom II would be a good choice.

I will be upgrading to bulldozer, but in a long time. Should I drop the mobo and get something cheaper for now?

I just recently purchased a AMD Phenom II X2 BE 560 for $87.99 and got a FREE Asus M5A78L-MLX motherboard from Micro Center. It's a AM3+ board and you have a chance to unlock the two locked cores with the Phenom II X2 560 BE. Don't know if you have a Micro Center in your area..check there website for store locations. You can save some money this way. I am also building a new pc!

Thanks a lot for this build My budget was $400, but getting $100 only takes me a month so its fine.

How do mail in rebates work? I've never used one.
