Yes, my first gaming experience was on DOS, when you had to type in the directory of the file you wanted to load (or game). Meanwhile my friend, who was all rich-and-fancy had a windows 95 comp that had a UI! No more typing to start things! it was amazing!


That DOS box had a floppy drive, a CRT screen (not even flat - CURVED), a printer where the paper came out on a giant roll which you had to tear the sides off, and the pages.... cant remember much else about it, I rarely used it.
I had fun times with DOS. I played Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Duke Nukem, Rise of the Triad, and Descent. And you saved memory and bloat by not loading up Windows. smile.gif

DOS. Early versions. I thought it was version 1, but I started with version 2.

I have even used windows 1 and windows 286. Both less useful than moldy bread.
