Dang man, Ive got the same CPU, mobo, and gpu's as you

board overclocks great. got to 3.8 easy as pie. getting to 4.0 needs a pretty large vcore jump, and 4.2 is doable, but with tons of vcore. not worth it.

@EvilbunnyELITE,

The Corsair H50 is easy to install ? I was thinking of getting the Noctua cooling.

What would I need for that?

Or should I go complete water cooling. I was told the MoBo still condensates with water cooling.

how are you guys doing?

About the OC of i7 .

All I did was:

1.Turned off XMP and set my VRAM to 1.64 (this was when I had 6GB)

2. Turned off HT

3. Raised multiplier till I hit 4GHz.

That's it. Took 5 minutes. I was surpirsed my Vcore was relatively low as you can see.

May have to adjust your vcore because of the difference between 950 and 930.

And for the OP. May have to upgrade CPU cooler prior to OC.

Thanks.

the h50 was easy to install yes. the newer ones are even easier, and cool better too.

I got the h50 for $50 at best buy when i built my system (last summer) and so far its been good. I originally planned to do a real loop, but i dont see any reason to now. temps are fine. no reason to spend that all that money.

never heard about the MoBo condensation. and the nactua is a good cooler.

Try this overclocking tut then and see if it is easier. As it is currently the best one out to date.

http://www.techreaction.net/2010/09/...-and-gulftown/

This guide will get you familiar with the in and outs of what you need to know.

Edit: I also think the h50 is still like $50 at Best Buy right now also.

@EvilbunnyELITE,

The new one is the bigger one?

Oh I see the H80...

Where did you attach the smaller H50? Did you mount the radiator at the rear instead of the stock case fan?

If I were to get the new one, if its the bigger version, where would I mount it?

I'm considering getting a better case, if needed.

Is there a way to cool the gpu with the hydro series?

@KILLER_K

Thank you for the suggestion!

Some people consider turning HT off cheating

But yeah, HT off will allow higher OCs with less volts.

OP, its mostly about VCore and VTT. The Uncore where the IMC is located is generally the weakest part of the chip. If you find you need a lot of VCore for a given OC, try upping VTT before going crazy on overvolting VCore.
