Is it me or did the developers of video games lessen cheat codes on the games they make?

Yes.

They just made most games stupidly easy to the point you don't need cheats to win.

As for cheating for the fun of it, they just shovel you DLC.

Coding cheats takes time and money which could be spent on something useless to sell us.

Besides GTA, yes. But it also comes from the standpoint that people make their own files now and are easily accessible online imo. Such as Savegame files or software like CheatEngine that allows you to modify many things

There are definitely less "codes" in modern games like the classic button sequences you see in GTA games and more modifying values to your liking using the console.

It's kind of like in a game like Oblivion, the developers didn't give you a flying cheat, but that doesn't stop you from popping open the console and changing your acrobatics skill to over 9000. You have to make your own cheats in a way.
