Unique solution for a overheating rig - Page 2

From all of the fresh-air "mods" I've seen on OCN, this one is probably the most "personalized".

I do have to question your choice of a brace/bracket for attaching the hose to the back of your rig, though. It seems as if that plate attached to the rig-end of the hose blocks 100% of airflow going to your rig - is there something in the picture I'm missing?

Also, do you have any kind of filters on either end of the hose to prevent dust, dirt, etc., from getting in? Seems like that is especially prone to it.

This is only the prototype just to see if it would be effective, everything was bodged and ghetto-ed together in an afternoon/evening.

I've already started on Mk II but this time im working up some designs and actually planning it
This time around Im going to be using a much larger fan because the one i have is very good but its max rpm is 2500 and is unbearably loud.
Instead of using just one fan, I'm going to try and incorporate two 120mm fans, one at each end and a much smoother tubing solution.
Once i have the rough designs finished, i"ll post them on here and you guys can give me feedback.
I kinda chuffed you guys like it so thanks for the encouragement

Detroitsoldier:
The plate i used was the back plate to an old P4 cooler with two holes drilled to match the screw holes on the vacuum tube hose that originally held to the vacuum itself.
As i said, this was just bodged together out of what i had at home just to see if it wold work, my new design should be much cleaner and better designed hopefully with some OCN feedback i can make it into something unique and effective.
Oh and I have used the foam out of a few spare front bay covers of my case at the end of the tubing which works a treat because it allows lots of air though but also stops bugs and dirt etc.
After a week of use there was hardly any filth or dirt on the intake fans or the H50 Radiator.
I've also discovered that i don't even need to hang the tube out the window, as long as its up again the window and i leave it in the "open lock" position, it still drags the cold air in.

I'll get some rough drawings done and post them here tomorrow for you guys to have a look over

Ingenious Cooling Solution. However, I'm wondering why you can't get your money back from your girlfriend. Is there really nothing that you can do?

When the days become cooler temperature difference will become greater and you will have moisture problems

I've always wanted to do something like this, but I live in Texas, where were about 10 feet below hell.

Cheers for the comments guys, I am working up some plans and im getting some supplies and tools in the next few days to begin work, I'll keep you posted when they arrive.
Humidity isn't really an issue here in the UK and its been working perfectly even in the rain! (this was an accident, I had my headphones on so i didn't hear the rain, I would never risk it again but its nice to know it didn't cause fire/death/misery)
Obviously when it gets cooler i wont have the pipe itself out the window like it is now....that would be foolish and its very untidy.
With my new design im going to build two wooden boxes, one for each end of the pipe/tube and each will have either a 120mm or bigger fan inside (not sure which yet).
One box will fit snugly at the back of my rig for the H50 intake and the other will be fixed to my windowsill up againt the opening of the window. This configuration of the design means when it gets really cold, I can leave my window in the open/lock position....this will still provide a sufficient amount of cool air into the system, but also shouldn't be cold enough to cause moisture problems, at least that's the plan

I've been busy but I am working on some plans but my drawing skills aren't the best but I'll try and upload the rough sketches in the next day or two.

Ekemeister: I tried, but it took me about a week or so to realize what had happened, after i found out about her and my friend I kinda went on a alcohol/drug fueled binge for several days/weeks (not my finest hour!)
By the time i realized the bank said there was nothing they could do, she also stole my PSP and some cash i had hidden. All in all she ripped me off for well over 5 grand and I became homeless because i couldn't pay the rent as i had an empty bank account!
This was 6 years ago and I've not been near a woman since, screwed me up badly and im pretty sure its done permanent damage because i cant even talk to women anymore.

Anyways, thats enough of my sob story haha,
I shall upload the new plans either tomorrow night or the day after
