Wow good link! So the HD 6000 has less image quality than the HD 5000 which has even less than the GTX cards?

I came from a 5770 to a 570, and honestly I found AMD to have superior image quality. Without the AA turned on the diference is really small, but once you max out the settings AMD wins. This is because AMD does full screen SSAA, while NVIDIA cards only do SSAA on transparent textures. AMD's SSAA has such high performance requirement that it isn't an option for many modern games. but if you have a game that isn't too demanding, I found it to be a huge leap in quality. Its a big enough deal to me that I'm switching back to AMD, as the majority games I play run on older engines and should still run smoothly.

To give you an idea of the performance hit of the two brand's takes on SSAA, my 5770 dropped from 50-60FPS in Dragon Age down to 10-15fps, while NVIDIAs SSAA only dropped me 15fps on TDU2.

I remember the colors being better on the 5770 by a small bit, but its small enough that I'm willing to credit it to placebo effect. If your not going to crank the AA, then look into more important things when picking a card, like if any of the games you play run better on a certain brand.

One last thing, I had zero issues with either companies drivers, but I find NVIDIAs slightly better because they have a profile system so you can set the settings different for each game. If I somehow missed it in AMDs drivers or they added it in the past few months, then I would say the drivers are equal.

you won't see a difference between the two in image quality, so only go by performance

i have read an artice about image generating on ati and on nvidia, and nvidia has gotten more votes on better image
for example nvidia got more real like image, for example dark places in game were darker than on ati and such things
if i'm to ask i don't know if that is good or bad, since then when you are in a game for example the whole thing is darker and you don't see quite well, so you have to turn up brightness on your monitor and then it comes to the same result as ati
so getting a good monitor is important and as for image quality, you won't notice difference on either

There is a difference in image quality. For example, ATI has better color reproduction in videos while nVidia has better AA in games. However, at the end of the day, having a high quality monitor and calibrating it with a colorimeter are much more important than picking a video card based on it's image quality.

It's the same with sound - you can have Metallica playing for you right in your living room, but if the speakers and amps aren't any good then you might as well be listening to them on youtube.

Im going to use my hdtv so it will have better quality than a monitor anyway. I did a google and didn't find any articles that said AMD has better colors though, so that is probably false.

Do you guys think I should get a 580 then?

I personally would, seeing as how Nvidia has a couple other features going for it, like Physx and 3D. (spare me ATI trolls)

They aren't insanely widespread, but at least the option is there if you wanted them.

I've seen ASUS DCII going for sub-$400 in the for sale sections of the various tech forums lately. Keep an eye out.

I have been using both makes for many years. I've always used the highend cards, and never had driver issues with either.

The 2nd or 3rd post of this thread said the most important thing!
Your choice in Monitor will decide your image quality.

Other than that, there are just to many fanboys on either side, to get a fare and unbiased recommendation.

Your best bet is to go with a single GPU solution, and as of now, the best single GPU card on the market is the GTX580

Those are facts.
Hope this helps you.

If you don't want to listen to me, fine, but next time don't accuse me of lying just because you don't know how to google things.

Furthermore, most TVs aren't as good as high end monitors, unless maybe if you have a Kuro or other high end plasma. But I guess I'm just talking out of my ass on that one too.

Sort of off topic, but the high end Samsung plasmas have better color reproduction than the Kuros. The Kuros, however, have the best blacks in the industry. I give my 650 series a slight nod overall against the Kuro smile.gif

Edit: Btw, on topic, my 4890 and 5870 had better image quality than my 8800 series cards and my GTX280, but I haven't compared the newer stuff head to head yet.
