6870 question. Any good?

Thread Starter
So, not been keeping the the loop gith GPU's the past year. And i really need an upgrade for the flood of games coming out over the next few months BF3 been the main one of corse -_-

And i'm in a bit of debt too, so cash is tight 150 Euro for a 6870 seems like a good price. Opinions on this card? Also how does it perform in DX11 games?

Mine has been great. No complaints. Great value. I think it is still considered the best bang for the buck in its price range. Of course that is open to opinion. It runs Metro 2033 at 1920x1080 at totally acceptable frame rates. That's the most demanding game I own. I have mostly played Mass Effect 2 on it and have never noticed it having any trouble at 1920x1080.

GREAT card.... Awesome bang for the buck, and it performs like a champ. I have yet to play crysis 2 with it, but it maxed metro 2033 no problems..... imagine what 2 of them could do 0_o

I haven't had any issues besides just needing to use MSI Afterburner to adjust the fan curve (wasn't happy with the temps, though they were in the "normal" range). Running Bad Company 2 pretty much maxed. Tom's Hardware continues to recommend it at it's price point (they just put up the July graphics card recommendations).

I replaced the TIM on mine with AS5 and my fan never goes over about 35% now. It still hits about 80C under full load but the fan speed at 80C is lower than it was stock. On my Asus I think the fan is throttled so that it stays at 80C under auto control. When I run furmark it only briefly touches 81C before going back to 80.
