planning a sub ambient cooling system

Thread Starter
okay so im planning a system that could cool a new rig below ambient since its freakish high (33c) and i know my pc will still get unbearable temps at high overclocks.

i plan to use the hailea hc-1000a if you know that one, if you can suggest any else to use then fire away!

im going to get a cpu block, ram block, hdd block, mobo block and maybe 3x gpu water blocks from aquatuning.

i'll be using an eheim 2000 compact+ pump, or 2x laing d5 pumps with ek dual top.

i'd get a quote for a quad bay res...

norprene tubing from tygon 1/2" ID

neoprene 10mms thick for insulation (i've got 90% humidity here, DANG!)

what else do i need?i'd run this monster for 5-8hrs a day maybe,is this plausible/ok?

Looks like you have done your research well and I think Hailea HC-1000A should suffice.

A few comments:-
a. Hailea HC-1000A works in the range of 1500-4000 L/H. To take full advantage, Eheim Compact+ 3000 (1500-3000 L/H) can provide a wider range of flexibility than the 2000 (1000-2000 L/H).

b. I would avoid using dual pumps to avoid potential complications (eg the 2 pumps not in sync with each other)

c. Do not place the pump before the Hailea. If water enters into the radiator with full pressure, it may become leaky (see page 3 of the following link).

I look forward to see this monster being put to work.

thanks!if i run AC+dehumidifier to my house to bring ambient temps to 20c then lower my house's humidity levels to 50%,can i use the chiller without insulating my parts?i tested this dewpoint calculator http://www.dpcalc.org/ and if i set my chiller to 15c,no condensation will happen right?i really want to use some colored tubing instead of norprene, but insulating is fine too.

Yes. According to that Dew Point Calculator, for 20C and 50% RH, dew point is 9C. So, you are safe to set a 15C coolant temp.

In general, condensation forms first on the metallic surfaces (eg water block surface) before forming on the tubings. See the pic below showing condensation on my TEC chiller. When that happened, the tubings were all dry. But I am still using Norprene anyway.

in the temps that we're talking about, can i just get away with not insulating my blocks?if i cant, please do advise me some threads which can help me with placing insulation on my loop as i will be using the pc from 4~8 hrs a day.

I have been considering going sub Ambient and am very interested in your results. Let us know what your temps are and if possible post some pics. Thanks.
