P8P67 WS revolution 16x cards

Thread Starter
The highest rated review on newegg claims the NF200 chip cannot run 2 video cards at x16 like they claimed. Normally I ignore horror stories like that but since it's got the most helpful votes it had me a little worried.

I plan on putting my 6950 in slot 1 (top blue slot) and putting a GTX 460 in slot 3 (other blue slot).

Anyone have this board / otherwise verify that it will work at x16?

Thanks

as long as it can do it at 8x you are good to go, no single GPU video card can max out an 8x slot.

The WS Revolution doesn't explicitly state which slots run electrically @ x16. From what I can tell, the first and third slot (blue) are x16 or x8. I think you can change it in the BIOS. The black slots are x8 electrical.

It's got 2 NF200 chips, so there should be enough bandwidth for the 2 blue slots to run at full x16. I read on the reviews that this was not correct because their board never ran past x8 with 2 cards.

should be getting this board today

anyways, why do you run 2 different cards on the motherboard, what are the benefits of that?

Is it better or worse than the EVGA P67 FTW? Both boards have NF200 chip and many PCI-E slots.

I supposedly will have one arriving today... but who knows the seller has been flaky. I can test it, but I'm pretty sure slots 1 & 3 are the 16x max slots.

There is no tangible difference in performance between an x16 and an x8 PCI-E lane. If you'd like to read up on it go to [H], they've done a few tests comparing the different speeds.

that is BS it can do 16x per slot that is the whole point.

If you have two GTX 570s or GTX 580s they use a bit more bandwidth than the GTX 480s, but to see the difference between 16x/16x vs 8x/8x we need to OC the GPUs and have a large resolution.

Also ppl say b/c the CPu only has 16x lanes it bottlenecks the NF200, that is BS becuase the NF200 does so many more things than just increase the bandwidth, there is a lot of P2P chatter between newer GPUs which the NF200 perfectly facilitates. Apart from that the NF200 comes up with double the bandwidth becuase it waits for that much bandwidth to become available, its hard to explain in laymen terms, but its an extremely advanced FIFO MUX look that up.

This, end thread. I can take screens to prove it.
