Monitors with Matte Screens

Thread Starter
Is there a solid list somewhere of quality matte monitors? It seems like there is no easy way to find them. Newegg seems to never have it listed in the specs and going through reviews just to find out this is tedious.

Is there some convention in naming/type of panel that I am missing? I've recently been looking at all the IPS panels; most/all of them are matte, correct?
Are IPS panels superior in every way to equivalent regular glossy monitors, despite the lower saturation that seems to come with the matte screen?

Thanks for the info, sorry if it's posted somewhere, I searched and couldn't find anything.

hahaha i dont have a way to find matte screens like that but pick out ones you like and check are they matte finish. For IPS i think they can handle large resolutions but they have input lag. Glossy monitors tend to reflect more making it harder to read sometimes. Matte finishes reflect less and are SEXY!

Yes, IPS screens are all matte AFAIK, and yes they are superior in every way except that they don't make 120Hz models (if that's important to you).

In general, the IPS monitors of choice these days are the Dell Ultrasharps, followed by HP's. If you've got a deep wallet you can get NEC ones too.

The U2211h and U2311h are 6-bit e-IPS, while the U2410 and up are 8-bit H-IPS.

Input lag is a by-product of the monitor's processing, not the panel itself.

Do you have a source for this or something? cause i can't really find much on it, im looking to buy an IPS panel. I know the IPS panels use to have slower response time, but they're better now.

Yeah, I'm looking at the Ultrasharps right now. I love matte, and have recently grown tired of glossy. I really don't have that much to complain about, but as kmouze stated they are SO sexy smile.gif.

How bad is the input lag in reality? 6ms doesn't seem terrible, would I notice ghosting while playing games? And are 120hz IPS's on the way? Will they be even close to around the $500 mark?

Also, is the 2410 worth it over the 2311, just for the better picture, if size wasn't taken into account?
