windows 7 OEM ??

Hello guys,

I recently wanted to buy an operation system
windows 7 pro 64bit

but I was confused about OEM << what does it mean?

I wanna a CD that I can put it inside the dvd driver to boot of because my computer doesn't have any OS yet.

So, does this thing include a CD that has the software on it? Or I'm just buying the serial number of the OS???

Help guys

thank you

lol Original Equipment Manufacturer. Means its strait from Microsoft.

It's the same as a retail version, just without the fancy packaging and user manuals.

OEM means you can only install it on one motherboard. You cannot install it again on a different motherboard.

So if you wanted to go from a Gigabyte board to an Asus board, you lose your Windows 7 license since it is OEM.

You get a disk that you can install with. I have a copy myself.
OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer.

Yes.

It's same as far as the OS, but it's limited in that it only has the license to allow it to be installed on a single computer instead of several. If you change the mobo, you have to buy a new license by law.

As above,

OEM is locked to the first computer you load it onto. You can not use it on any other machine your build or buy (legally). If you do, you may have activation problems down the track.

Retail is usually more expensive but you can load it on any machine you wish.

Whoa... major ninja posts

Okay Okay

so what about if I wanna do a format (re - instal) in the future on the same MOBO??
Would it be installed again, or I just can use it once?
