Patch 1.3 makes ubersampling playable!

Well it's about bloody time.

Patch 1.3 has, in mine and many other instances dramatically improved playability of The Witcher 2 whilst Ubersampling is enabled in the game's options.

Just letting all you know out there who, like me, have spent large amounts of time and money on top end SLI/XFire set-ups and were crestfallen that they still couldn't reach even reasonably playable framerates in this game.

With my setup (signature) my framerates have gone from low 30s to high 50s, everything maxed, everything enabled with Ubersampling @ 1920 x 1200.

Go check it out for yourselves!

Trying now

EDIT: More than likely it's just my GTX 570 but I received a modest increase. From 15 to 22 frames outside in the forest. And got about 28-29 frames in the underground caves and insides. Hardly an increase at all if you ask me.

I'm in the process of updating the game right now but I had seen some good things about this patch. I ready for better SLI scaling. We can also finally store stuff from our inventory at the inns also.

... I had uninstalled this game from my SSD after finishing it and I am re-installing to the HDD but all the little updates are taking way longer than they should to download.

Yeah, unfortunately it seems the way they've optimised it is by making multi-GPU scaling work a lot more efficiently. So you'd only see much if any of an increase if you are running multiple, absolutely top notch cards (SLI 580's or a single 590/6990 bare minimum). Also keep in mind that this game is reportedly ultra CPU-heavy as well, so nothing less than an Extreme edition or heavily overclocked 2nd gen i7 can allow you to play super smoothly with Ubersampling on.

It's still brutal on the GPU's, though- mine run round 70 degrees playing crysis and this has got them flat out to nearly 80 after an hour or so of play! Wild.

Yeah ubersampling is as resource intensive as supersampling. Good to hear it is faster on top of the line SLI/CFX setups.
Makes one wonder if they improved the coding/scaling or simply downgraded uber so that isn't such a FPS killer.
