Is os x lion running slow on 2gb ram machines?

Thread Starter
I have got a 2009 intel macbook pro with 2gb ram and wondering if it would be enough to handle os x lion.

and on the apple website it says the minimum amount of ram required is 2gb and that is exactly what I have. I am afraid my machine might get slowed down since its cutting it so close.

So I was wondering if anyone else have tried running lion on a 2gb ram machine so far...and how the performance of lion differs from that of slow leopard.

And would my machine be okay after installing lion. I only use this mpb for web browsing, document editing and itunes.

It'll be plenty for what you're using the MBP for.

It's when you start using programs like Photoshop and Final Cut that you'll need more RAM. RAM is fairly cheap nowadays too, it might be worthwhile to get a 2GB (to add to your existing RAM) or 4GB kit just for the hell of it.

It will be fine, I dont notice any increase in the normal amount of ram the OS uses compared to SL.

I installed Lion on my Macbook Pro 17" (1 year old, 4GB), Macbook Pro 15" (2 years old, 4GB) and my Macbook Air (1 year old, 2GB), and all three are just a tad slower than usual on almost everything. Bootup is only a few seconds more, but opening programs is slower (Safari, Word, Endnote, Adobe). Going into Finder, System Utilities etc is also slower.
Not regarding speed really, but I have a glitch with the OS leaving opened windows on the screen which are not possible to move/close unless I reboot. AirDrop is very slow on my 6mbit/sec home network and it is not possible to see the progress anywhere later on if you leave the Airdrop window.
Not really this Overclock forum issue, but I might as well drop all bombs gunner.gif

Thanks for welcoming me.
But it was a cool name. Of course, an "airdrop" could be something from a seagull eek.gif

Lion runs fine on my 13 inch unibody Macbook late 2008 model.

My Macbook has only 2GB RAM.

It actually runs better than Leopard & Snow Leopard.
