Asus P8P67 Pro Broken Pins

Thread Starter
I bought a bunch of components recently,
i7 2600k
ASUS P8P67 Pro
Sapphire 6950 2GB
2x4GB G.SKILL RipjawsX

When I installed them all, i was careful, and took my time with it. When I went to turn the system on, it wouldn't start up. I tried a bunch of stuff to get it working again, but ended up taking the motherboard to Canada Computers. The technician said that there were 2 bent pins on the motherboard, and that he could not do anything about it. I have tried to contact ASUS, but their support is a hastle, and I am waiting to hear what they will say. How can I fix the problem of 2 bent pins?
Thank you for your help!

A cool little trick is to take a mechanical pencil that uses the smaller graphite peices (#7 I believe) and where the graphite would normally come out, stick the pin in the hole and bend it up slowly to where it is straight again.

You can fix this yourself, the pencil or credit card trick will work but, be VERY careful and work VERY slowly taking your time.

O' and the switch-a-roo that was mentioned, that is why the cost of things keep going up.

All you have to do is bend them straight up. But be very careful when doing it, because you could accidentally snap the pins right off.

But, as far as contacting asus goes, they won't do anything for you. If the pins are bent, it voids your warranty. I'm sure you could pay them to replace the socket, but that's about it. And paying them to replace the socket would probably be just as expensive as buying a new board.

Don't do any kind of switch, it's crap like that that's ruining the world for everyone else. Be honest about your mistake, you goofed up handle it. Either repair it, replace it (buy another board), or contact Asus and explain to them what happened and see what they charge to fix it. Shouldn't be more than $40 to $50.

Yes bending pin voids warranty. The price for repair the socket can cost you a new board
