Flash Agility 2 to Vertex 2???

I'm looking at Vertex 2 vs. Agility 2 and I see no difference besides IOPS... so does the Agility just have a castrated firmware?

Can I force a firmware flash to a Vertex 2 and get 50,000 IOPS instead of 10,000?

With a difference THAT great I SINCERELY doubt it's just a software limit that can be unlocked.

Wrap your head around it; that's a five times increase in iops.

It has the same controller... probably same NAND also. It's probably the firmware. Don't reply if you don't know what you are talking about.

Last I checked, the Vertex used high quality flash chips and the Agility used whichever flash chip was selling the cheapest when that lot was being manufactured.

You might be able to force the Vertex firmware onto an Agility, but it would probably just brick the drive immediately when the cheap memory can't keep up.

Vertex 2 have different NAND configuration even among the line. Some are using IMFT ONFI while others are using toggle NAND. Besides the firmware is locked out.
Once again...

Also, I believe the Agility uses Asynchonos ram where as the vertex line uses synchronos. Some things there will be little to no difference, but other it will show. Anandtech actually had a great writeup about the differences.
