Noctua NH-D14 is one of the best, or you could get Corsair H80, both should last you for at least 2 years

If it's within your budget, get an NH-D14.
If you can't afford a D14, get a Hyper 212+.

Any tower cooler in push/pull will usually be good.

I've had the Dark Knight for a few years and love it.

In the $30 range i find the best to be the Xigmatek GAIA and the Thermaltake Contac 30
in the $40-50 range look for a Scythe cooler (ie Mugen 2 or Mugen 3)
Above, the D14/Silver Arrow/Scythe Mine with 2 fans is the way to go.

I have the Thermaltake Frio and find it does a amazing job. Iam currently at 4ghz on my x4 965 the nb is at 2600 and temps at idle are 35 degrees and under a load on prime it hits 54 degrees. And the voltage on cpu is 1.42V .
Heres a link.

Also depends on how much space you have in your case.

You can get a WC setup almost as cheap as the big air coolers now.

Noctua and Zalman and Scythe and Xigmatek each have a couple nice ones.

I got the Sunbeamtech for cheap with a rebate, and it's cooled my CPU phenomenally.

If u have the budget tho, low-end pre-assembled WC units are about $70.

If you are on a tight budget, look into Xigmatek.

check out FrostyTech for cooler reviews/rankings too.
