You see, having an overkill PSU gives you incentive to put in an SLI/Crossfire graphics solution. It's win/win! Glad to see there's a light at the end of the tunnel.

This is driving me nuts after replacing the board and everything for about 2 weeks now I am still getting the event 35 kernel processor power error which is locking up my system. Happens in BC2 mainly where it just freezes no sound loop nothing when I reboot right before the crash happens in event viewer it pops up. Dont know what to do and also waiting for corsair to send me back the HX850 from RMA. Help appreciated thanks.

Crikey, I thought you were all good to go too!

Are you using your old PSU by chance? I'm asking this as it looks like your new HX850 is still at Corsair for RMA. (What happened there?) I thought the OCZ is what was causing problems for you with stability in the first place?

Wow you're having a bad time of it I feel for you (I've had a couple of PSU's go in the past that were costly). Well if you've replaced your HDD, PSU, Motherboard and fault tested your memory it's only the CPU left which could be at fault. Something is either breaking down, open circuit or pulling too much current in your CPU perhaps? Googled the fault code and found a forum post where someone's having a similar problem. His CPU was down clocking from 3GHz to 1.999GHz obviously to try and maintain stability.

Quote:
Upon further investigation I may have noticed that the filter for this error event ID 35 [task 2] is perhaps the result of missed identitiy of drivers ment for AMD cpu support but being seen correctly as the drivers for Intel i7 920 or higher and thus logged wrongly as an error.
Please check the following link: Processor Power Management in Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008
for the most current white paper on this subject.

Yeah i had a BSOD a few weeks ago. I ran chkdsk and updated a couple drivers. It was during idle so i don't think it was stress related. I haven't had another once since. *Knocks on wood*. chkdsk might have fixed it. Nothing you can do but wait. I Also downloaded windows debugger to open my minidump log and analyzed the BSOD. Might be a good idea to see what was going on. Sorry your having this problem. Iv had a fair share of PSU Problems also! I bought a SeaSonic PSU and i was getting random PC Shut off a few times. Then i noticed if the PSU was tilted a bit it restarted. Now the SeaSonic PSU is dead! And i bought Sea Sonic because i heard they are good! Meh Now i buy CORSAIR PSU's cuz i havent had issues with them.......yet! But yeah PC probs are the most frustrating!

Well the 850 was bad after i swapped it out at micro center for the 750 and didn't feel like going back there and dealing with them so I decided to go to corsair. The only reason why this one didn't fry my other components is because i ripped the power out immediately. I sent it in on Monday via UPS made them pay for the shipping because I'm done with all that! and now the OCZ is what im using to power my rig so I guess I should come to expect this error again with my old PSU but at the same time I don't get why this error has to do with the psu if its related to improper firmware or not having firmware at all?

I kept getting those same errors and BSOD and it turned out to be the Video card I used to have. (5870) , they are known to have a few quirks in them. . .just a thought.

If it is your PSU (which I think it is), it could be feeding your system too low of current or voltage due to aging capacitors or possibly a wonky voltage regulator. (They can put out too much voltage too, but I suspect it's too little.) This lower voltage/current than what your system needs would be like getting misfires on a car engine due to 70 octane gas. It wants to provide the correct computations, it knows how, but since it's running on lower power than designed it has to guess. It's not really a guess, but that's the closest I can explain it -- just know it's a bad thing. I used to know the exact causes of low current/voltage on a drain/gate transistor setup, but it's been over a decade and modern computing has changed...just a lil.

Anyhoo, just wait to see if once your RMA comes in (harass ASUS over the phone, they really like it!) it fixes this problem. PSU issues are one of the craziest problem creators in the computing world, next to memory issues. If it still BSOD's/freezes/acts possessed by the devil with a good power source, then we can move on to eliminating more possible problems.
