Lag in Games

Thread Starter
Recently I started playing Starcraft 2 again after a couple months of break. Before my break, I never once lagged in game, even with massive armies duking it out. However, now I lag more in big team fights and such. I lowered the settings to the lowest, but I still lag where I never lagged before.

I don't know where to look that could possibly be a problem for the new lag.
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

Thanks.

Nothing changed since then. I've scanned/defragged/ccleaned.

Just running chrome (3 tabs, nothing big), Skype and Aim. Nothing my system couldn't handle before, especially at such low graphic settings.

Did you update vidcard drivers through Windows Update? That's caused that for me on occasion....

I did that at first, but then I downloaded drivers from the Nvidia website, so I don't know.

on my SC2 teams, most of my teamates get lag when they are running file compression or downloads in the background... but they all run i7's with overkill 570's.

are your network speeds affected on anything else like streaming video or other games?

if there are no other indicators, you can always uninstall and reinstall SC2, I am not sure that a couple of patches could have caused that much lag since you last played though.

Have you ever played Brood War online before on battle.net? Other players in your game affect the gameplay. The lag over the network seems like a lowering of FPS but it isn't. If you have FPS monitors up you still see no change in FPS but the game is stuttering and such. I get this too on a 2600K with SLI GTX 580s when there are lots of units on the map in some custom games. Really nothing you can do about it.

I'm not sure, I'll try reinstalling SC2. Nothing else has slowed down since then/
