[EK] Finally a solution for Nickel waterblocks corrosion

Just saw this today, I guess some of us will be happy to hear it (me included!):
Quote:
After much testing and research, EK has come to the conclusion that it offers its customers the finest and the most expensive nickel plating technique available in the industry – Electroless Nickel Plating (EN). The electroless nickel plating is about 3-5 times more expensive compared to standard nickel Electroplating. EN plating offers several advantages such as:
-Outstanding resistance to corrosion.
-Dimensionally uniform thickness to within 2 millionths of a millimetre.
-Highly adhesive and solderable.
-Very smooth and wear resistant.
-Hardness equal to hard chrome and greater than electrolytic nickel

altough there are some cons to be considered =(
Quote:
Due to increased corrosion resistance, the surface of nickel plating is not as shiny as standard Nickel Electroplating and has little darker tone. Throughout the years EN plating may become less bright.

and
Quote:
Prices of EN nickel plated EK products will be higher than “old” nickel plated products – in average from 3€ for the CPU blocks to about 10€ for the EK-FC590 GTX blocks.

What do you think? Gonna buy them?
Let me know your opinions!

I'll let others be the guinea pigs, but it sounds like they should be better.

I may replace mine. I'm not too fussed about the darker tone though.

3€ to 10 is not that much, but how much will the finished product cost after a company makes it?

Slightly worse looks are definitely worth the better corrosion resistance in my opinion.

glad they finally admitted that it was their plating process that caused the issus. I like EK and dont care too much for the shine. If people want really shinny blobks they can buy Koolance :F

THAT is the cost of the final product, not the cost which EK has to pay for the new Nickel plating.

I applaud the new process. Even if it may be a tad duller, it's still better than copper.

Then it is a no brainer for people who want the best nickel.

A bit OT, but oh well biggrin.gif
Would you go Nickel/Acrylic or Nickel/Acetal?
