Low budget upgrade

Thread Starter
My friend would like to play GTA IV, BC2 and BF3 when it comes out. So I was wondering if anyone can come up with a upgrade for him, but keep the price as low as possible.

He doesn't have a graphics card, so he need one.
He also need a CPU and Maybe a mobo upgrade (I think his socket is 775)
And maybe PSU.

What gaming resolution are we talking about and is there an exact budget (I know it's low budget but that means different things to different people)?

You need to get him to run speccy and/or cpuz+gpuz and post the specs so we know what he has and what he will need.

And a acutal budget amount will be nice, as low budget is different for different people

The E2180 are actually good CPUs, i've played SC2 on a E2180 OC'd to 3.2ghz with 4 gigs ram and a 8800 GTS 512mb (g92) and was on medium settings at 1680x1050

Just overclock the E2180

He said, he wants a better upgrade form that one. So he might get the Q6600 G0. and Idk which GPU would be good enough for his 1280x1024 res. He also need a PSU.
The E2180 @ 3.2 ghz peformed almost as well as my E6400 @ 3.2 ghz

Granted the Q6600 will be a better CPU. I'd go with at least a GTS 450 or higher or a 5770 or higher

http://3dmark.com/compare/3dm06/9767635/3dm06/14904594
E2180 @3.2 + 8800 gts 320 (g80) 10534.0 3DMark06
E6400 @3.2 + 8800 GTS 512 (g92) 12920.0 3DMark06

If you notice the cpu scores are the same 2728 to 2758

He's gonna need a new quadcore for GTAIV.
Get a socket 775 quad Q8400 or Q9450 for 180$ in newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115057

GPU could be an HD6850 or GTS450/HD5770 if budget is really tight.
