Yes, if your vrm temps are also kept in check, which is almost impossible to do on air cooling at that voltage. The only way it is safe to push that many volts is if you had a non-reference like the asus directcuII or msi lightning.

yeah i'm using a asus moddified bios now. i did use a moddified EVGA bios that allows me to go up to 1310vlt, but it was to much cause my GTX 580 stock cooler won't able to handle that much volt & heat. so i'm using this asus bios for now

Instead of asking what voltage is safe, see what temps you get and you will know whether its safe. You can run 1.150v 24/7 safely as long as temps are good, it will shorten the life of the card of course. There really is no point of running a high voltage oc 24/7 unless you really need the horsepower.

No. Usually the rule of thumb is 1.1v for 24/7 on air.

Okay, HOLD ON HERE A SECOND FRIENDS... Afterburner throttles the voltage unless you have checked "Force constant voltage" in the box. If you're set to say (my numbers) 1.125 for example and you're idle, my GPU usage will drop to 1-2%, GPU core speed will be at around 50MHz and the voltage is reading 0.995v.

So what's all this about "24/7" when unless you have someone on your computer doing stuff to cause the cards to thottle up all hours of the day, then you're not actually running a voltage 24/7. It changes... At least, this is what makes sense to me?

I also need 1.125V in order to get 900 MHz stable, at 84% fan speed the highest I've seen is 72C. Currently 64C while folding.

Yeah but 24/7 also applies to "under load" situations. For example, I'd be uncomfortable running my cards at my full OC during hours of straight gaming. First of all, its unnecessary (stock clocks kill all of my games with ease) and secondly the heat and noise output at 940MHz and +200mV is not pleasing for long periods of time.

With these cards I only overclock them for short benchmark sessions and fine-tuning. When I go back to using my computer of other stuff they go back to stock...

I don't understand, I have my card clocked @ 970/2400 24/7
It idles @ 37 degrees and the highest temp I've seen in benchmarks is 66degrees. Is there something wrong running such high clocks 24/7?

My VRM temp doesn't exceed 57

I still don't understand. If you pay attention to what Afterburner shows in its monitoring suite, it shows that the cards idle along at sub 100MHz and 0.96v at idle, when you do anything like watch a YouTube video where the cards may be put to work, they go up to maybe 400MHz, maybe 1v or less. They do the same when overclocked. The overclock only kicks in when you put their usage up past about 50%, i.e. only a game or heavy video app could push them to that. Not trying to argue, I just legit cannot understand how "24/7" applies to having an overclock plugged in when the overclock is actually only applied while gaming, which is when you'd turn it on anyway.
