Netbook Games

Hi All

Im looking at buying a netbook at some point soon... So I have a few questions:

1. Are there any specific netbooks you guys would recommend? Though this question will probably be answered in other threads...

2. My main question here is for netbook games lol. Now I know they aint super powerful but Im just after a list of games that will run well on netbooks... I know I wont be playing like super modern games and what not but I honestly dont care in fact most older games are better in my opinion...

The main reason Im buying one is a) so my wife can surf the net on the couch at home instead of bugging me for my main rig (sig rig) and b) so that when I go on long drives/flights I can play spacies to pass the time...

Cheers

This has been covered lots of times before. Here are a few that i can remember:

Here are some of my favourite games that should be able to run on a netbook.

Half life
Deus ex
Max payne 1&2
Grim fandango
Doom
Most of the Command and conquers, such as tiberian sun and renegade.

Oh yeah, and if you're looking for something more modern for some reason, there are more casual games like world of goo that should run nicely.

Also, Vice city should work, gta3 might struggle, while its older, its engine renders stuff you cant see, meaning it requires a faster computer. I've never tried it on a netbook, but I've heard it was unplayable on the earlyer ones.

Hi Stilldawn,

1.
I would recommend that you get a netbook that features the AMD Fusion chip or one with the Nvidia ION inside it as these will allow you to do more on the netbook. Atom-based netbooks with integrated graphics chips cannot really take HD videos over 720p.

Also, when looking for a netbook, try to get a screen that is 1366x768 instead of the bog standard 1024x600, as this will solve many of your issues with some programs (Photoshop/Civ 3, 4) requiring a minimum resolution of 1024x768

2.
With regards to games, have I got a list for you!
