Eyefinity Setup - Page 3

OKAY :_)
but ...I have a SUPER AMOLED on my phone! I can't stand bad blacks(on a phone = no).. I'm stuck with the monitors I have , but even so , blacks leave a lot to be desired
ESP when he'll be viewing the 1st and 3rd screens at an angle

Ghosting is indeed an issue on my screen , wonder why , with the 2ms GTG :@
my 19inch AOC performs better in this regard
post #22 of 52
That's because advertised response times are gray to gray, which makes the whole thing null. To actually measure anything, black to white/white to black would be the transition to measure. Gray to gray tells nothing.

To know how much ghosting a monitor has before purchase, check reviews.

From review: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2311h.htm

Also, somebody said something about backlight issues. Here's how severe they are. Oh? That's not much ain't it? Seriously, if this is what you consider a backlight issue, you've come from a CRT or a plasma. Because it don't get much better than thsi with LCDs.

In the end, most TNs will never beat the U2311h at most areas of performance. Not even the ones where TN panels are supposed to excel at.

Some IPS panels like the NEC I mentioned are slow and not that good for fast paced gaming. TN would be better for gaming there. But the dell U2311h is a good example of modern fast IPS panel.
I just wanted to second this.

I've been using 3 U2311h for some time now, and I can't see any ghosting, input lag, or any other gaming related problem.

U2410 also is a lot more expensive.... and also suffers from 15-30ms of input lag (one to two frames of 60hz).. So it's not as ideal for gaming. It's not worth the extra price here. Even though its' technically superior.

Your assumption is correct, 2 of them are sealed and haven't been taken out of the boxes. The other one is lightly used but in mint condition, never dropped or dinged or anything.

That being said, the one that was used is currently sitting in its original packaging as packaged by Dell (I saved all of the packaging and re-packaged it)
Interesting thus far

EDIT:

I always arrange to meet in public, usually at a Starbucks. I'm willing to provide you a copy of my Identification so that you could have recourse if any of my items do not work.

I could bring the 3 monitors to a Starbucks, unbox and plug in the one that has been used so that you know it works and are reassured.

The guy seems really legit. He's like me witht the eyefinity setup but he never got around to even unboxing them because of several bad injuries. He even has the invoices for which he ordered so the warranty is still intact.

So its $700 for 3 Dell U2311Hs, one of which is slightly used. It's basically buy 2 monitors get the 3rd free. Should I give it a shot?

At this point, consider your options. IPS displays will prove significantly better than TN in terms of color production. This is the kind of display photo editors use. This is the kind of display people who enjoy image quality and hate washed out colors want. Do you really consider it worth it? The users who go to IPS range from "This is amazing, I'll never use TN again" to "Meh, the difference is there but I don't consider it worth it for gaming". Though, a bit more seem to be in the former group.

Think about it. Your choice.

If you come to the decision that IPS is worth it for you, sure. That is a good deal. Especially if you can test one of them out like that before purchase.

I do take pride in image quality of screens. When I first get a screen, I calibrate the hell out of it and do it on a semi-monthly basis to always check. I enjoy watching movies (bluray particularly) and games at high resolutions.

I never tried an IPS monitor. And the price difference is that of almost $300-400 over getting 3 ASUS. It's a difficult choice.
Though, the main reason Im considering this is because I have only $400 worth in Bitcoin at the moment which Im in the process of exchanging. So it's not like money is necessarily a problem. It's just, is it worth it?

How about mixing? I know it probably isnt exactly ideal but I cant see myself using all 3 monitors all the time you know.

So perhaps getting the dell for the main and siding it with 2 ASUS panels?
